Firstly, what the heck is Leaky Gut Syndrome?
Well it is pretty similar to this bucket here on the right!
Your gut is lined by a wall, which is similar to a net with small holes in them. These small holes act as filters and allow the passage of certain substances. It acts as a shield to keep out the bigger, harmful substances from entering your body.
When someone has a ‘leaky gut’, it means that the gut lining in the small intestine is damaged and cannot optimally function as a barrier against harmful substances, bacteria and undigested food particles from entering your system and causing considerable damage to your health.
With leaky gut, damaged cells in your intestines don’t produce the enzymes needed for proper digestion. As a result your body cannot absorb essential nutrients which can lead to a whole host of issues!
Oh my! So what causes leaky gut?
Poor diet — Especially a diet that includes allergens and inflammatory foods according to your blood type.
Chronic stress
Toxin overload — These include antibiotics, pesticides, tap water, aspirin and high drug and alcohol consumption.
Bacterial imbalance — Also called dysbiosis, which means an imbalance between beneficial and harmful species of bacteria in your gut.
Vitamin and Mineral deficiencies like L-Glutamine, Vitamin D3, B Vitamins, Selenium, Vitamin C etc. (These deficiencies can be detected with our full body analysis)
What are the symptoms of leaky gut?
Gastric ulcers
Joint pain
Infectious diarrhea
Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS)
Inflammatory bowel diseases (Crohn’s, ulcerative colitis)
Small intestine bacterial overgrowth (SIBO)
Celiac disease
Esophageal and colorectal cancer
Allergies
Respiratory infections
Acute inflammation conditions (sepsis, SIRS, multiple organ failure)
Chronic inflammatory conditions (such as arthritis)
Thyroid disorders
Obesity-related metabolic diseases (fatty liver, type II diabetes, heart disease)
Autoimmune diseases (such as lupus, multiple sclerosis, type I diabetes, Hashimoto’s and more)
Parkinson’s disease
Chronic fatigue syndrome
Likeliness of weight gain or obesity
What are some of the problems that can develop from having leaky gut?
× Food Sensitivities

× Multiple Vitamin and Mineral Deficiencies – most commonly Vitamin B12 (long term deficiency can cause anemia), Vitamin B3, B6, B1, D3 etc.
